Rob bought his own car for the 2000 racing season. A 1987 Ford EXP with the 1.9 liter motor. He missed the first week with distributor trouble; had fuel delivery, spring and lifter problems; and had a time getting the Mach Five to handle in the corners. He raced the rest of the 2000 season and won 11 races, and finished 3rd in overall points and 2nd in the Second half points out of 38 cars. He posted the 3rd Fastest Qualifying Time in the four cylinder division with a 16.29 second lap around the one fifth mile track. His Father Bob Brown in #7 1986 EXP posted the fastest lap with a heat race break out time of 16.12. The best official qualifying time for the #7 was 16.27. The number 58 Mustang was consistently the fastest qualifier but his best time was 16.14 for qualifying.

The King At Sandusky Speedway

Rob won everything at the Sandusky Cavalcade this year. Out of 50 cars including six cylinders he was at the top. The heat race, the main feature and the Outlaw feature all resulted in 1st Place. At the Mansfield Cavalcade he had a fair qualifying lap (not what the car was capable of) and qualified 4th out of 40 cars. His brother qualifed 3rd and Dad qualified 6th. Rob won the fast heat race of the fastest 8 qualifiers. In the first feature of top 20 qualifiers Rob took the lead from his brother Randy then he got loose. So Randy won, Dad was in 2nd and Rob in 3rd. His Dad won the Main Feature, Randy finished 2nd, and Rob finished 9th with motor trouble. Not the way we wanted to finish the season but the season was a fairly successful one with a new car. We will get them next year.
